Founded in early 2015 by Amy Damara and Jon Birkbeck, Dally About the Bush started out as a small touring theatre company visiting care establishments around the UK. It was a market that they both felt had so much potential and yet the professionalism and talent of this industry was not being fully showcased. There were many competitor companies with similar ideas at the time, but nothing (in Jon and Amy's opinion,) that quite nipped it in the bud. That's where Dally About the Bush came in.

It all started with an idea.
An idea that we had to make work. Having done this touring work in the past, Jon and Amy drew on their past experiences to create a unique idea. This idea would grow to become Dally About the Bush. Starting with just a few contacts and Amy's little Skoda to fit everything in, they toured around with their debut performance of Little Red Riding Hood in Christmas 2015. And The response was overwhelming.
And we're not going to stop here! If we can grow so much in the first year, just think about where we'll be in five years time. It is just incredible how far we've got simply from caring about the shows that we put out. (Finally, Amy's perfectionist traits were coming in handy!)
We cannot thank each of you enough for the continuing support that you have shown us over our first few years and because of this, we will continue to deliver the consistent performances that you have come to expect from Dally About the Bush.

There is something about Jon's personality that causes people to suss him out as an actor very quickly. All the world's a stage - for Jon, this is the case. "Performing and pantomimes especially have always been very close to my heart, and to do it professionally is a wonderful privilege. It's thanks to the tireless efforts of the venues that we are able to do what we love."
Jon has performed in many pantomimes in his time, starting very young in Cinderella and Aladdin, followed by many soppy princes, blind pirates, hopeless comedy duos and many more. His one for acting began when he played the 'Artful Dodger' in Oliver!. He studied at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David and gained a 2:1 in BA Acting. Jon met Amy on their tour of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and it was following this experience that they both decided that this is what they wanted to do. |
